![]() It is known that the BC780XLT did not use this serial number protocol so it was likely instituted about 2001 with the follow up BC785D and BC250D which did. Since the introduction of the BC250D scanner Uniden has used a standardized 12-digit serial number protocol as follows: Uniden also manufactured many scanner models for Radio Shack and they also used the same model code system but they used Radio Shack's serial number protocol. ![]() Starting with the BC785D about 2001 that 3-digit code was generally used as part of the product's serial number as well, usually followed by the letter Z, codes for the year and location of manufacture and the sequential number. This was also part of the FCC ID (Search at ) for scanners made by Uniden, using the Grantee Code of "AMW" and the Product Code of UBxxx" where the 3 digit number series indicated is used (no "Z") ![]() ![]() ![]() Uniden has a 3-digit code used for each of its scanner models since at least 1999, starting with 296 for the BC80XLT-1. ![]()
